sealord > I visited the seashore at La Valette during the night of June 10, 2007 to clean the pebble beach of litter left by the summer crowd. During my visit I saw several very fast moving house centipedes, Scutigera coleoptrata, running over and under the pebbles and cobbles on the beach. The centipedes on the pebble beach were too fast to photograph but I saw this individual on the concrete steps leading from the beach to the seawater bathing pools.
