Two Discodoris planata sea slugs in close proximity to one another in Belle Greve Bay on Guernsey's east coast on the 19 February 2007. The orange mass in the upper left corner of the image is a sponge. Dr. Bernard Picton in his excellent book "A Field Guide to the Nudibranchs of the British Isles" writes that the white patches on the mantle of this species are acid glands. These individuals were found in contact with each other under a boulder at low tide. There were transfered to the top of a stone for photography.
