sealord > This skipper or saury, Scomberesox saurus, was caught by recreational angler Roger Wheatland over Hurd Deep in the English Channel on the 12 September 2007.  It was landed in Alderney and submitted as a Bailiwick of Guernsey angling record.  I photographed the fish on 14 September 2007.  It had a total weight of 70 grams and a total length of 304 mm measured to the tip of the lower jaw.

sealord > A black ruff, or blackfish, Centrolophus niger, was given to me by a wholesaler at Mercabarna, which is Barcelona's wholesale fish market.  This fish had no commercial value and was in a box of mixed species.  Photographed in Barcelona, Spain in April 1990.

sealord > During May and June the Queen Elizabeth II marina in St. Peter Port harbour receives huge numbers of zooplankton and juvenile fishes with the incoming tide.  This larval left-eyed flatfish was collected from the marina and photographed in a Petri dish.  It had a total length of about 10 mm.  It was collected and photographed on the 28 May 2007.

sealord > A male sand goby, Pomatoschistus minutus, sits on the beach in Belle Greve Bay on Guernsey's east coast.  The male of this species has a bright blue mark towards the posterior edge of the first dorsal fin.  This is just visible on the folded first dorsal fin in the photograph.
