sealord > The common periwinkle is common on the shores of the UK and on the shores of France but virtually absent from the shores of Guernsey, Channel Islands.  In Guernsey the periwinkle is replaced by topshells - particularly the toothed topshell, Oselinus lineata, and the purple or flat topshell, Gibbula umbilicalis.
